Now I'm a Mrs.

This photo is from Juliet Elizabeth Photography

All is said and done. What a weekend. I can honestly say, the best weekend of my life. I married the man of my dreams with friends and family surrounding me. I am one lucky girl. There is too much to say in one post, so I will sum it up with THANK YOU. Thanks to everyone for being there, being supportive, keeping me calm when things weren't going according to plan, helping me get ready, dancing with me on the dance floor (because I can't dance), and just having a great time.

I am incredibly fortunate to have friends, family, and a husband that love me so much. :)

More to come after the honeymoon.....

All about us COMPLETE!

We finished the book on the drive to Ohio! We had 11 hours to talk! WOW! I recommend this book to anyone who wants to get to know a little more about their partner. I had a blast. Anyone know of a follow up book? Maybe there is a newlywed one.

Aunt Arlene to the Rescue!

I would like to say a big thank you to Kevin's Aunt Arlene. After reading my blog post about the Heidi Grace fabric, she went to JoAnn's in Chicago and found another 8 yards! That put me to the exact amount I needed to finish the tables and have a few extras just in case. Thanks so much for reading and helping me find that mysterious fabric! Here's a photo of Aunt Arlene, Kevin, and I at her son's wedding.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

A Christmas gift that keeps on giving...

Kevin gave me this book last Christmas. We didn't grow up together and came from very different places so this book has taught us a few things we never thought to ask each other. It has also reveled some of the good, bad, and ugly of our relationship. I know that may sound bad but it has been a great experience going through this book with Kevin especially because we've made several 10 hours drives to Ohio between last Christmas and now. It was the most thoughtful gift! We have about 20 more pages left and we plan on finishing it up on our trip to Adam & Kim's wedding in June! I can't wait to finish it! Thanks Sweetie!

My new last name.

I think it really sets in that your last name is changing when you receive your first monogram item. Kevin's mother threw me for a loop and gave me several items with a "W" on it. I'm not used to seeing that letter for my last name! :) The gifts were adorable and they sent me a reality check that the wedding is only 3 months away. Check out the coasters! We also received napkins, a wine stop, cheese spreaders, and a towel. Thanks Jo!

Invite Mania!

I want to thank my mom, sister, my bridesmaid Kendra, and her sister Stacy for helping me finish this ambitious project, the invites. Another big THANKS to Kevin for printing ALL envelops, exterior and interior. Also a very, very special thanks to my sister Sam for designing all the graphics including the save the date all while she was pregnant. Here are a couple of photos of us working hard stuffing the envelops.

Circa 1886

We arrived at Circa 1886 and I slowly noticed everyone was looking at me up and down. I tend to get uncomfortable in fancy restaurants so I immediately feel under dressed. It turns out they were all looking for my ring. Kevin called ahead and told them he was planning to propose that evening but the ring had been delayed at the jeweler. He clearly told the staff at the restaurant to make sure the ring was on my finger before we were seated. Once the staff knew we were officially engaged, they all congratulated us one by one and greeted us with champagne. It was such a beautiful evening filled with smiles, laughter, and great food. Our dessert was even served with "Congratulations" written on the plate. The perfect dinner for the most PERFECT evening.

The Proposal

There are so many beautiful places in Charleston, SC but there is one special place that I will forever hold near to my heart, the pineapple fountain in Waterfront Park. This is where Kevin popped the question. We had a nice evening planned to go to Circa 1886, one of the city's few 5 star restaurants. Everyone was suspecting when I told them about my plans for the weekend except for me. Kevin told me that a friend gave him gift certificates to Circa 1886 (like they even have gift certificates) so we were going to go and enjoy a dinner on his company but first we'd go to Waterfront Park to see an art exhibit. I said great, what a romantic evening. We got all dressed up in suitable "5 star" attire and headed to the park. We walked around the park for a little while looking for the art exhibit with no luck so we went to my favorite store Indigo. I noticed Kevin seemed to be in a rush but our dinner reservations weren't for 2 hours. We slowly strolled back to the car when he stopped in front of the fountain and grabbed both of my hands. I am still unsuspecting until he begins to talk. Before I know it he's down on one knee asking me to marry him. Instead of saying an immediate YES, I yell "open it, open it!" He opens the box (with his hands shaking) and places the most beautiful ring on my finger and finally I say YES. The moment he stands up a group of young girls came rushing towards us and asked to see the ring, my tears are still flowing. A moment after I can hear a women talking on the phone telling her husband that a young man just proposed in the same place he did several years ago. This same women (Laurie Diel) is a photographer and offers to take our photo (shown on the left). It was such a wonderful beginning to a fantastic evening.
